MARRIAGE LICENSE

You must  obtain a Marriage License before you can be married.
Both the Bride and the Groom must be present when applying for the license at a
South Carolina County Courthouse Marriage License Bureau.
The Courthouses are usually open from 8:30-4:30 Monday through Friday, but you
should call to verify the hours before you go.

There is a 24 hour waiting period before the license can be picked up.  When
applying for the license, you must pay CASH.  They do not take checks or credit
cards.  A driver's license and social security number will be required for identification
by both the Bride and the Groom.

No blood tests or physicals are currently required in South Carolina.   You do not
have to be a resident of South Carolina.  Marriage licenses do not expire in South
Carolina so you can apply for it well in advance of your wedding date.  Any SC
issued marriage license can be used in any county of South Carolina.

If you are under 18, special rules apply so please call the courthouse in advance.

YOUR WEDDING CANNOT BE PERFORMED WITH A MARRIAGE LICENSE.  Give
all of the copies to your officiant.
